How many times have you picked up a book and after reading it thought it was one of the best books you’ve ever read? Then you’ve found out that there was to be a sequel and you got all hyped up about it only to find out it was terrible.

I can honestly say this is not the case today! Last year when I read Mike Mullin’s first book ASHFALL I was excited, intrigued and couldn’t put it down. It was my favorite read of the entire year. I recommend it to all of the teens that come into my library and to a few who’ve never stepped foot inside. (Yes, it’s just that good!) I was beyond excited when I heard that there was a sequel in the works! A little skeptical because of the book 2 curse that many authors seem to suffer.

There was even a happy dance I will admit when I got the electronic advanced reader copy. I’m not ashamed to admit how stoked I was. Here’s what I can tell you about ASHEN WINTER. Mike did not even remotely suffer the 2nd book curse. It bypassed him completely I’m glad to say!

Not only is Ashen Winter a supremely awesome read, I have to say that it may be even better than Mike Mullin’s first book! I was caught up from the first page and couldn’t put it down! The drama, the excitement, and the situations Alex, the main character find themselves in had hooked form the beginning. The emotion of the book makes it that much better. I don’t know how anyone could not love these characters. If you haven’t read ASHFALL yet, I suggest you get a copy whether, its from a bookstore or your local library, and read it now so that when ASHEN WINTER comes out (the release date is October 8th, 2012) you can read it right away!

I know I’m already anticipating the 3rd book in the series. If it’s even half as well written and exciting as Mike’s first two books, it’s going to be great!

If you can’t wait for ASHEN WINTER’s release, Mike has the first two chapters posted on his webpage. There’s a link on his webpage at http://mikemullinauthor.com/ just click on the ASHEN WINTER tab and the link is towards the top of the page!
